- Options: In today’s economy, Lottmann Realty Group is fielding many questions about short-sale and foreclosed properties. A short sale means the seller’s lender is accepting a discounted payoff to release an existing mortgage. Foreclosure occurs when a lender or other lien holder takes possession of a property because the property owner has failed to make regular, timely mortgage payments or property taxes. In both cases, the creditors want to sell the property quickly. Short-sale and foreclosed properties are an affordable way to augment a real estate investment portfolio.
